This is my second stay at this resort. The first time I was there with my ex, which kinda ruined that trip. This time I was with the person that cared about me and I cared about her. So the second time was the charm for me. Let me share our pros and cons about this place: PROs: - Really nice service. The staff goes an extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. - They have an amazing selection of drinks at their two bars. Also their food (aside from breakfast - see the cons) was very nice. They had a nice selection in their menu so you won't run out of options during your stay. - They have an ice-cream shop that serves amazing ice-cream and sherbets on the premises. That was a great addition to our stay during a 30C weather. - They have a very clean pool with nice lounges nearby. All in nicely shaded area, where you can order a cocktail or a snack right by the pool. - The ocean was amazingly clean. It didn't have a lot of sea weed, or garbage. And the sand was soft and pleasant for a walk or a morning/evening run/stroll. On top of that there weren't many beach boys to annoy you. There were some, but not that many. - They have an iPhone/Android app that has all the options needed for guests: from checking your balance, to giving you times when the food is served, to showing you the list of amenities, to giving you an ocean tide map. Very professional. I have never seen any other resort that had their own app. - We had a couple of massages at their spa. It was very relaxing and we liked it a lot. - They have a very nice gym on the premises. So you can work out if you want to stay in shape. They also have a yoga studio, if that's your thing. - They offer all kinds of extras: from scuba diving lessons to fishing, etc.

Breakfast was amazing! We like the 'new' style breakfast with buffet continental component - allows us to pick and choose the fruits, juice, cereals, pastries and breads we would like, but still hot breakfast available. One thing I must say, the staff are exceptional at The Sands, smiling, friendly, not intrusive but extremely attentive. Special call out to Rally, Phoebe (at the buffet section), Salim, Jacinda, Nelly... to name a few of the staff who interacted with us almost daily... everyone though is wonderful...including the grounds staff who maintain the beautiful property, to the guys who clean out our rooms to the reception...for us The Sands at Nomad feels like home from home but with all the pampering of a 5* holiday. And of course, Luca and Guilia who's 24/7 attention to the hotel and all that goes on within is most appreciated. You can never miss to see Luca discretely walking around and making sure all is well... really appreciate that coz we know we are being constantly looked after! And most of all to 'Pluto' .... who is an absolute sweetheart. The only thing is, I don't want everyone to know about The Sands.... is that mean?! :-)

The Sands at Nomad is an exceptional, world-class resort located on a prime site on Diani Beach, Kenya. The resort is surrounded by tropical forest which ensures that there is no outside noise pollution. The forest is home to a variety of creatures, including at least 2 types of monkeys (Black and white Colobus and Syke's or Samango monkeys) Dik-dik, Bush babies (Grester Galago) and numerous species of birds. The accommodations are spacious and comfortable, ranging from standard Sea Breeze rooms to private villas. I had a Beach bungalow - ideal for single travelers or couples, whilst my friend had a standard Sea Breeze room. The Beach bungalow had the advantage of being right on the beach (literally about 15 m from the pure white sand) and benefitted from the sea breeze, whereas the Sea Breeze room, despite its name, did not get much benefit from the breeze due to tall trees which blocked the view of the beach, but had a great ambience. Both rooms were air conditioned, so the breeze was not essential. There are a wide range of watersports and activities on offer.

The Nomad is a really lovely place. The food was very good, the staff at reception very friendly and professional. The whole set up with the swimming pool surrounded by greenery is lovely. Also nice to watch the different monkeys climbing in the trees. The beach is truly stunning, and while before booking I had feared the beach would be too busy, this was not the case. Of course when you go for a walk you are approached by beach sellers, but they accept a no. We had a standalone bungalow, with our own reclining chairs and lots of space around, very pleasant (that probably explains the high price, but for us that privacy and peacefulness was what we had been looking for), beach sellers walk past, but they leave you in peace when you say no. We also appreciated their environmental efforts.

The location of the hotel is stunning, the beachfront seems the best out of all the adjacent hotels. The layout of the structure is great, you never feel like there is a crow around, truly relaxing and private experience. The hotel staff are lovely and kind. The management is extremely friendly and helpful. The Executive Chef makes magic food and is a great guide on hotel activities. Another point worth mentioning is the GM and all hotel management and staff who treat the ‘adopted’ local dogs and cats as if they were family. Special mention goes to Pluto the dog who is the star of the hotel.
